We begin Saturday with a shared virtual experience for all participants. The Opening Program will introduce Meet the Moment as a movement-wide framework that calls Unitarian Universalists to shared analysis-building, collective discernment, and faithful action in response to today’s shifting cultural, generational, political, and religious realities. Together we will reflect on the ways our tradition has always been both grounded in core values and open to transformation, and we will prepare our spirits for the day of learning ahead.
Following the Opening Program, participants will join Wave Cohorts, with options to participate virtually or locally, for deeper engagement with the practices of Meet the Moment. There will be several Wave Cohorts in each setting to choose from, focused on a particular topic that is critical to Unitarian Universalism in this Moment. Each Wave Cohort will guide participants through a Meet the Moment process, analyzing the Moment we are in, identifying the needs and opportunities of this Moment, and using our shared values to identify ways we can Meet the Moment, together. We will consider what it means to let go of what no longer serves, embrace new possibilities, and act with courage and love in changing times.
We close our Meet the Moment programming by coming together for a virtual Wrap-Up Session that gathers the wisdom, insights, and commitments arising from our Wave Cohort experiences. This time of collective reflection will help us weave connections across the movement and carry forward what we are learning about how Unitarian Universalists can faithfully Meet this Moment, together everywhere.
The Ware Lecture is a treasured General Assembly tradition that invites prophetic voices to speak to our faith and our times. This year’s Ware Lecturer will challenge and inspire us to live more fully into our values, to open ourselves to transformation, and to take bold action for justice and liberation.
